Sophia

<  BACK TO PATIENTS

Sophía has lifelong health challenges, including digestive issues, recurrent infections, and frequent antibiotics. Since 9 months, she has shown developmental delays—limited eye contact and affect, poor response to her name/instructions—and remains in diapers. She has marked feeding selectivity (tolerates only solid, crunchy foods) and needs close hydration to prevent allergic reactions. At daycare, she learns by imitation and participates with peers; she shows notable strengths in puzzles and block building, and relaxes on swings and at the park. She has sensory intolerance to head touch, making bathing difficult; episodes of scratching/biting are followed by affection, and past hair-pulling/ingestion was noted. Communication frustrations can trigger crises; she engages little with siblings but is not aggressive. The family has limited resources—her father sells bolts, her mother sells eggs—and they live in a home lent by maternal grandparents.
