Samuel was born with a malformed palate which would make it difficult for him to eat. He could not breastfeed and even struggled to drink from a special bottle. He was hospitalized 7 times in his first year of life because of respiratory illnesses. At one year of age, he had his first seizure and was referred to physical therapy because he could not sit independently. He eventually learned to walk, however, his therapies stopped during the pandemic. His mother has been doing her best to work with him at home but is very grateful to RVF for making it possible for him to return to physical therapy and receive speech therapy as well.
