Luciana, the eldest of 3 sisters, was fortunate to be born into the care of a very loving and dedicated mother, who noticed that Luciana did not seem to process information the way her other children could.  Luciana did not learn to speak until she was 4, and can only say a few words, which are not clear to strangers.  With the encouragement of her aunt, her parents took her to a neurologist who diagnosed her with autism.  Her parents are hopeful that the speech therapy and special education that RVF provides at La Escuelita will advance her speech so that she can communicate.
